  • Exams
    Several (2 or 3) equally weighted exams, the last one given during the final exam period.
  • Activities
    Primarily participating during classroom discussions, including presenting solutions to problems to the class.
  • Homework
    There will be regular assignments of problems from the textbook that will need to be neatly written up and turned in.
  • Community Credits
    4 or 6 are required.
    • One colloquium credit is awarded for each one of the math department's colloquia you attend (and write about) and for each Problem of the Fortnight (as it appears in Hope College Mathematics Department Blog) for which you submit a correct solution.
    • Two credits are awarded for attending a mathematics conference or for preparing for and competing in a math competition.
    • Three credits are awarded for presenting mathematics at a conference or colloquium.
    • If you do not complete the colloquium requirement, then your grade will be lowered by one third of a letter grade (e.g. from B+ to B).
